DEMA 2025: Connection, Inspiration, and Big Ideas for the Future of Diving
DEMA 2025 was one of those weeks that fills you up—inspiration, community, new ideas, and the kind of energy that reminds you why you love being a scuba professional. From reconnecting with old friends to discovering new opportunities, this year’s show in Orlando did not disappoint.
Reconnecting and New Connections
As always, the heartbeat of DEMA is the people. I spent the week catching up with industry friends, dive pros, resort partners, and global travel operators while meeting dozens of inspiring new faces. Every conversation sparked ideas for future Seaira Dives trips, training opportunities, and ocean initiatives.
Where We Stayed
We stayed at the Rosen Centre, which couldn’t have been more convenient. The hotel is modern, comfortable, and perfectly positioned for DEMA attendees. Best of all, we were able to walk straight across the skywalk that connects the hotel to the Orange County Convention Center. No need for shuttles, parking hassles, or navigating traffic—just an easy stroll to start each day.
Highlights of the Week
🌊 The PADI Social on Monday
The PADI Social felt like a massive community reunion. Instructors, Course Directors, regional staff, mentors, and friends from all over the world came together to celebrate accomplishments and enjoy time together before the week kicked into full gear.
🌺 Raise the Tide Women’s Social
One of the most inspiring events of the entire show. The Raise the Tide Women’s Social brought together women from across the industry—leaders, instructors, entrepreneurs, ocean advocates—to share stories, support each other, and celebrate the increasing visibility and strength of women in diving. The energy in that room was powerful.
❤️ The DAN Social
The DAN Social was warm, welcoming, and full of meaningful conversations about diver safety, research, and emergency response. I always walk away from DAN events with a renewed sense of responsibility and appreciation for the work they do.
🎓 PADI Seminars
This year’s seminar lineup was excellent. From instructor development to business strategy to conservation-focused education, each session offered insights I’m excited to bring into my training programs and international trips.
💻 AI in Lightroom
One of the most unexpectedly fascinating sessions dove into how AI is enhancing underwater photography workflows. We explored color correction, smart masking, and how AI can help streamline editing without compromising the authenticity of the shot. It sparked ideas for future photography-focused workshops on Seaira Dives trips.
A Truly Veteran-Friendly DEMA
One of the most meaningful parts of DEMA 2025 was how genuinely veteran-friendly the show was this year. From the moment we checked in, veterans were recognized and welcomed—every vet received a veteran sticker on their DEMA badge, a simple but powerful gesture that sparked countless conversations and connections throughout the week.
Even more heartwarming was the Veterans’ Wall, where vets from every branch could sign their names, leave messages, and connect through shared experience. It was wholesome, uplifting, and a beautiful reminder of how many veterans find purpose, healing, and community in the diving world.
As a veteran myself, seeing that recognition and camaraderie woven into the event meant the world. It made DEMA feel even more like home.
🤿 Exploring New Gear & Equipment Trends
The show floor was packed with innovative new gear this year—including lightweight travel equipment, updated BCD designs, new reg tech, beautiful wetsuit lines, and creative underwater photo tools. It was exciting to see what’s coming in 2026 and get ideas for future student recommendations and gear upgrades.
I also have to give a special shoutout to Mu and their Kahu Poncho Towels. As an instructor, this is my go-to for staying warm and comfortable after diving. They’re cozy, quick-drying, easy to pack, and perfect for boat days or windy surface intervals. If you haven’t checked them out yet, you absolutely should—they’re a game-changer. Sneaking in Some Florida Adventures
Because it wouldn’t be a Seaira Dives trip without a little extra adventure, my friend Becky and I made sure to take full advantage of being in Florida’s freshwater and saltwater paradise.
While in Orlando, we:
Snorkeled with wild manatees 🐋💙
Dove with Pura Vida Divers in Palm Beach
Explored the iconic cavern at Devil’s Den
These were incredible experiences—and yes, blogs for all three are coming throughout the month of December, so stay tuned!
Learning, Growing, and Getting Inspired
DEMA always leaves me with fresh ideas and a renewed passion for teaching, traveling, and building community. This year’s mix of seminars, social events, vendor showcases, and spontaneous hallway conversations was no exception.
And I can’t forget Jellyfish Daydreams, created by the incredibly warm and talented artist Cassandra. Her artwork is absolutely breathtaking—vibrant, whimsical, and full of ocean magic. Her booth was one of the most captivating at DEMA, and if you love ocean-inspired art, her pieces are a must-see.
Why DEMA Matters
DEMA is the heartbeat of the dive industry. It’s where we learn, grow, collaborate, and discover what’s next. It’s where new partnerships form and where our global community comes together with a shared love for the ocean.
DEMA 2025 reminded me of:
The power of community and connection
The importance of women supporting women
How conservation and technology continue to evolve
The value of continuous learning for dive pros
The excitement of planning new travel adventures for divers
Looking Ahead
I’m leaving DEMA 2025 inspired, energized, and excited for what’s coming next for Seaira Dives. From new partnerships and destinations to fresh course ideas and conservation initiatives, there is so much to look forward to.
See you next year, DEMA—and stay tuned for our Florida adventure blogs dropping this month!
