Foundation

Divemaster

This is where you stop just participating in dives and start learning how to lead.

Divemaster is the first major step into the professional side of diving. It helps you grow from being a skilled recreational diver into someone who can guide, support, and inspire others in the water.

If your long-term goal is becoming an instructor, this is where that journey begins. You will build leadership, confidence, problem-solving skills, and the professionalism needed for every step that comes next.

  • Develop stronger dive leadership and situational awareness
  • Learn how to assist with training and support other divers
  • Build the confidence and professionalism needed for the next step

EFR Instructor

Become the person people trust when it matters most.

EFR Instructor teaches you how to confidently teach CPR, first aid, and emergency care. It is also a powerful addition to your professional path because great dive professionals are not only skilled underwater. They are prepared to lead when it counts.

This course is ideal for divers who want to expand their teaching skills, strengthen their professional profile, and add another layer of credibility before or alongside instructor development.

  • Learn how to teach life-saving emergency care skills
  • Build authority and confidence as an educator
  • Create a stronger foundation for the instructor journey

Your Path to Instructor

Take the staged route through Assistant Instructor and OWSI, or go straight into the full IDC. Both paths are designed to help you grow into a confident, capable PADI Instructor.

Step by Step Option

Assistant Instructor

Start learning how to teach without jumping straight into the deep end.

The Assistant Instructor course is the first part of the Instructor Development Course. It is a great option for divers who are ready to move beyond Divemaster and begin learning how to teach within the PADI System of Education.

As an Assistant Instructor, you will start developing the skills, confidence, and teaching mindset needed to become a dive educator. It is also a flexible path for candidates who want to complete their training in stages before moving into the OWSI program.

  • Break the instructor path into manageable steps
  • Build confidence before moving into the full OWSI program
  • Start developing knowledge development and confined water teaching skills
  • Gain mentorship and professional feedback along the way

Next Step

OWSI

This is where you continue the path toward becoming an instructor.

After completing the Assistant Instructor course, you can continue with the Open Water Scuba Instructor portion of the IDC. The OWSI program builds on the foundation you started as an Assistant Instructor and prepares you for the PADI Instructor Examination.

During this phase, you will continue refining your teaching ability in classroom, confined water, and open water settings while developing the confidence to teach students safely, professionally, and effectively.

  • Classroom teaching presentations
  • Confined water and open water teaching evaluations
  • Skill demonstrations and dive theory mastery
  • Preparation for success at the Instructor Examination

Instructor Development Course (IDC)

The complete professional training path to becoming a PADI Open Water Scuba Instructor.

The IDC combines the Assistant Instructor course and the OWSI program into one professional development experience. Many divers go straight from Divemaster into the full IDC, making this the most direct route to instructor.

At Seaira Dives, the IDC is focused on mentorship, preparation, and practical application. You will receive direct coaching, honest feedback, and the kind of support that helps you grow into the role, not just pass the exam.

  • Pre-course guidance on required materials and preparation
  • Structured instructor development with progressive feedback
  • Classroom, confined water, and open water workshops
  • Preparation not just for the IE, but for life as a working instructor
