Emergency First Response Instructor Course
Course Overview
Level up from responder to instructor. In this program you’ll build on your EFR provider skills and learn how to teach lifesaving CPR, first aid, and AED use. We focus on real-world, performance-based teaching so you can confidently run courses that meet EFR standards—and prepare your students for actual emergencies.
What You’ll Be Qualified to Teach
Upon successful completion, you’ll be trained to conduct:
Primary Care (CPR)
Secondary Care (First Aid)
CPR & AED
Care for Children (included when covered in your instructor training block)
Note: Some workplace or jurisdiction-specific programs may require additional alignment or authorizations. We’ll advise you based on your goals and location.
How You’ll Learn
Independent Study: Pre-course reading and prep using EFR materials
Classroom Workshops: Standards, course structure, and risk management
Micro-Teaching & Scenarios: You’ll practice presenting knowledge segments, coaching hands-on skills, running realistic scenarios, and giving effective feedback
Program Management: Paperwork, certification processing, equipment setup, and practical marketing tips to grow your classes
What You’ll Master
EFR standards, performance requirements, and course flow
Structuring lessons for different audiences (workplace, community, public safety)
Coaching techniques and assessment of psychomotor skills
Delivering impactful scenario-based training and debriefs
Managing course logistics and documentation professionally
Prerequisites
18 years or older, and
Current CPR/First Aid provider training within the past 24 months (EFR Primary & Secondary Care or an equivalent), or be a practicing medical professional (e.g., physician, RN, EMT, paramedic) with current clinical competency
