PADI Instructor Development Course (IDC)

The PADI Instructor Development Course (IDC) is the professional-level program that prepares experienced Divemasters and Assistant Instructors to become PADI Open Water Scuba Instructors.

The IDC focuses on developing confident, capable educators through a balance of classroom learning, confined water and open water teaching workshops, and real-world instructor scenarios. Candidates refine demonstration-quality dive skills, strengthen knowledge development presentations, and learn how to apply PADI standards effectively while creating safe, engaging learning environments.

Throughout the course, candidates receive coaching, feedback, and mentorship designed to build strong teaching habits, professional judgment, and leadership skills. The IDC also prepares candidates for the PADI Instructor Examination (IE) and supports their transition from dive professional to dive educator.
